From a Traditional System to a Voluntary Pledge System
In Chapter Five, the values discussion continues with the focus on the financial support from our Temple members. This chapter introduces the shift from a traditional annual commitment system (frequently called dues and hereafter referred to as dues) to a voluntary pledge system, altering the relationship of members to the temple. This journey is presented from the beginning—from researching the concept to planning the change, to the introduction of the plan to the congregation, to the implementation of the new system, to the early results of our change.
A transformational change process in an organization involves communication with the membership. For the first two and a half years, much of this communication was done by the leaders and members of the One Family Team, by the Rabbi, and by Temple Board members.
